The wine shop on the service road has a new sign, white letters on green, and Meera notices it on a Wednesday because this is the fourth evening in a row that she has driven past. The service road is six minutes quicker. It avoids the signal under the flyover, where the wait at seven o’clock can run to three changes of the light. She worked this out a fortnight ago, and it is correct.
